Dreamy Destination: A Tulum Styled Shoot in 'Reine' by Sarah Hurja Photography
The inspiration behind this photoshoot captured by Sarah Hurja Photography was to showcase Tulum as an enchanting destination for elopements and weddings, highlighting its unique blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and romantic allure. This editorial aims to capture the essence of Tulum as a dreamy paradise where couples can escape the traditional wedding hustle and immerse themselves in a magical experience against the backdrop of lush jungles, turquoise waters, and ancient Mayan ruins.
From barefoot beach ceremonies to intimate jungle celebrations, photographer Sarah Hurja aims to inspire couples to consider Tulum as their ideal destination for an unforgettable elopement or wedding experience.
Greta is wearing a light and airy gown, Reine by Le Blanc from Casablanca Bridal supplied by Belle Lueur Bridal Boutique.
This gown is simple yet elegant with a straight neckline design, thin spaghetti straps and side panels dipping into a V when she turns. Her figure-hugging fit and flare silhouette made of perfecting satin, curves the hips before fishtailing from her knee and into an indulgent train.
It is the perfect chic gown for a warm Tulum elopement especially when paired with her gorgeous shoes and accessories from Freya Rose London. Jairo is sporting a casual linen shirt and trousers for the beach photoshoot and a simple opened white shirt with black trousers for the ceremony at the villa.
"In our vision for this wedding, we sought to steer clear of the customary tropical palette often associated with beach or jungle settings." Dama Athyr created all the florals, styling, and provided the decor elements for this shoot.
"We embraced a contemporary monochrome scheme, aligning with the 2024/2025 trends while staying true to the essence of Tulum's landscape, Mexican heritage, and the breathtaking natural elements enveloping us," said Sarah.
Abundant white orchids, tropical foliage like palm leaves, ferns, and eucalyptus sourced from the jungle surroundings, while minimalist elegance is achieved through clean lines and contemporary elements that harmonise with the modern monochrome theme.
Natural textures such as wood, rattan, and linen enhance the organic feel, with wooden accents like driftwood centrepieces adding warmth and depth. Metallic accents in gold, brass, or copper lend a touch of glamour and sophistication to the monochrome palette, while lush foliage and greenery bring the jungle vibe to life, infusing the decor with fresh, natural charm.
In addition to sourcing decor pieces from local artisans and utilising tropical flowers native to the region, prioritising sustainability can further enhance the wedding's impact.
Consider eco-friendly practices such as repurposing materials, opting for biodegradable or reusable decor items, and minimising waste. By incorporating sustainable elements into the design, you not only contribute to the preservation of the environment but also create a more mindful and responsible celebration.
"To start, couples should prioritise the kind of experience they desire both for themselves and their guests. It's beneficial to engage the services of a wedding planner or consult with experienced and trusted vendors, such as myself, who can offer insights into hidden gems and tailor advice to fit your vision," said Sarah.
"Decide on the style of wedding and select a suitable venue. Infusing elements of Tulum - from decor to entertainment, weekend activities, and cuisine - can add a unique touch to your special day."
For a personal touch, consider sourcing wedding favours or decor elements from local markets. Whether you're shopping in the days leading up to your wedding or during a visit to Mexico to choose your wedding venue, exploring local markets can yield unique finds that add charm and authenticity to your celebration and give your guests a little souvenir that will remind them of this very special time they spent celebrating your love.
